Five hours reduced to this.

Today Today Today...

I was pretty impressed with myself today as usually I manage to get up at 7am promptly or at 8am at the VERY latest, but low and behold I did get up at 7am then decided to lay back down and wouldn't you know it, I slept until 10am!

That was basically the most exciting part of my day!

After that I took my time getting ready and ate then went down to Union Square, wandered through the market and went into some shops and sat in the park until I froze and then decided to head back uptown. Went to Barnes & Noble and got a British House and Gardens magazine...then got some snacks and came home.

That all in all actually took close to five hours, but it's just not worth throwing in the details. I walked two blocks to here then back...blahblahblah.

Anyway I'm already ready for bed and will be heading there soon! Tomorrow it's suppose to snow so I think I'm going to just get up and go to Starbucks then stay home for the day and watch all the college basketball games! Get excited!!!

An open letter to Today.

Dear Today,

You were a lot more fun than yesterday. Well done! Our morning together was rather slow and boring as we took the precious time to apply for a much needed job on my end. You were right to suggest that we go out early in case it rained, you're so smart.

Going to the Museum of Modern Art was fun, don't you think? I agree that people were walking too slow and what's with people taking 800 pictures while you're at a museum? Whatever happened to just enjoying your time at the MUSEUM? I don't know, I thought it was crazy. We did see some fun things though! Waterlillies by Monet...some Picassos, lots of Pollocks...overall I'd say the MoMA was a heck of a lot better than the Guggenheim, but you wouldn't know that as you're Today and not last Sunday. My favorite part, besides the gift shop, was the Frida Kahlos. She even got a bad ass frame to go with her bad ass art. You go Frida!

The gift shops were, as expected, AMAZING. But I resisted buying anything. :( Sad times.

After that we traveled to H&M where we got an amazing deal on a cute shirt ($5!!) and an umbrella so next time if it does rain, Mother Nature won't hold me back! Take that!

Then it was home again, nothing too exciting has been going on but it's been a good day overall don't you think Today?

I'll miss you tomorrow.

Love,

Cassidy

Ps. I'm not cracking up just tired and wanted a new format...and Today was pretty awesome, thanks for being awesome Today!

Pss. The pictures are brought to you today by the internet, is there nothing that internet can't do?

I meant to mention this yesterday but I forgot until I opened my email today...stop forwarding shit! I mean really. I NEVER read forwards, EVER. If you really want me to know something, at least trick me and take the FW: off the subject line. I never read them, or forward them so just don't...or I'll have to send the John Gotti poster after you.

It's nearly the weekend?

I don't know about you guys but today was terribly boring. I did not sleep at all last night, thank you Equate Sleep Aids, and was pretty grumpy today.

I got up and watched Stuart on tv...yeah he's a celebrity. It's a long story but basically he was speed dating the other night and some chick is doing a 90 day love thing for a tv show and she picked him as her number one so he went on the tv show she's working with and did an interview.

So I watched that and got ready and then was like hmmmm what do to today? I wanted to go to a museum but was too groggy to really go and fully appreciate it so instead I just wandered around for a bit in the hood and came back. Totally thrilling I know. I can't entertain you guys everyday okay??

I did apply for some jobs today and we'll see how that goes.

Tomorrow I am going to the MoMA and then not sure. Apparently also on my list of things to do tomorrow would be buying an umbrella as I know I had one and now it's disappeared. What will really grind my gears is that I know I'll find it as soon as I buy another. Just how it always happens you know?

Oh well.

Anyway I'm off to bed, I'm over today and just done.

Note: Picture above is brought to you by yesterday. Thank you yesterday for being entertaining unlike today.

Freedom certainly ain't free yo.

So today was not my best day ever. Let's just preface this whole blog with a few facts:
I hate water.
I hate ferries.
I get motion sickness.
I have anxiety like you would not believe.
Keep these things in mind while you are reading the proceeding account.
So I got up early and got ready to go to Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty as the Weather Channel told me "winds were light and variable". So okay, I figured it would be safe day to attempt the ferry rides over to the islands.
So I got up and ready and headed downtown, which was nice because I did figure out that the 4 & 5 express trains near my apartment ran right down to Battery Park...but not so nice because it was rush hour time so it was hella busy on the subway. At least of my friends on the subway got off at 42nd or Wall Street. Suckas.
Anyway so I got to the ticket booth and did the security blah blah blah and went to the ferry. Here's the worst part of my day. The ferry was against some tires or something to prevent it from bumping against the dock too much but it was windy. And the ferry seats weren't facing front but to the sides if that makes sense. That was pretty much the end. I HATE being on ferries, thank you so much Mackinac Island for scaring me for life. Anyway so I was sitting there thinking about how I didn't want to get sick and managed to get myself SO stressed out that I actually cried. Yeah, I'm pretty awesome at blowing everything out of proportion. Yay! So FINALLY the ferry left so I just dealt with it. We got to Liberty Island and I calmed myself down...oy.
So Liberty Island was cool but there isn't much there, well clearly the Statue of Liberty. I didn't pay for the extra junk but I took some pictures and then went to the gift shop, totally lame. Well unless you wanted a Statue of Liberty ranging in height from three to like 30 inches. Wasn't something I was in the market for so I left. Peace out Lady Liberty. She is very photogenic though. Whatta gal.
The ferry ride to Ellis Island wasn't as bad so that was good. Ellis Island was infinitely more interesting/cooler than Liberty Island. They have a museum and part of it is set up like the immigrants would've went through...medical exams, etc. I thought that was the coolest part of the whole place. Word. So I went through that and tried to make the gift shop cool but again, no market for me and a Statue of Liberty statue.
After that I was ready to get back to Manhattan, it may be an island but it's still accessible by a bridge. Thank goodness!
So I got on the subway and came home, went to the grocery store and just ate lunch and after all the stress and Dramamine I've been pretty much dead to the world.
I think the rest of the night has a sleeping pill in order and finishing flipping in between the Knicks game and the Bulls game ...okay at that point my mom called and then I totally forgot I was blogging. Ooops, I got way distracted by tortilla chips and updating Lisa on my NBA info for the night. Dur.
Anyway I'm pretty much done blogging so I'm off to watch some basketball then bedtime for sure.
Still not really sure what the plan for tomorrow is..maybe a museum, maybe Little Italy...we shall see.
I'm open to suggestions!

TLC takes up too much of my time.

Today was a fun day overall. I was originally attemping to go to the MOMA, Museum of Modern Art and was planning on spending the afternoon there then who knows...well that was fine and dandy until I realized at like 11:30am that it's not open on Tuesdays. Ugh.

So my backup plan was to go to the History Museum which was a good plan until I realized that I wouldn't get there until 1/1:30 and there are four floors and my ticket includes the Space Show so I just didn't feel like rushing. So instead I walked from my house across Central Park stopping here and there to view things...like Cleopatra's Needle...Now Cleo and I have a beef on going because I wanted to see the needle in London and it took me literally about three months to find it and that was purely on accident when my mom was visiting...and wouldn't you know today just randomly walking I happened upon the one in Central Park, it's super close to my house too. Oh Cleo. Oh well. So I saw that and a few other things, I took some pictures but I'm too lazy to try to retrieve them today so you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

After that I did get to see Strawberry Fields, nothing to write home about or blog about.

After that I walked down the park to 6th Avenue/Avenue of the Americas and walked from there to 46th Street. 46th wasn't coincendental...I walked there and down in between 2nd and 3rd to see Spark's Steakhouse. I know I know you're already like what the hell does a vegetarian want with a steakhouse? Well first off, they have fish. But that's not why I wanted to go. It's the restaurant that Paul Castellano was killed at. John Gotti hired a hit on Paul so he could be head of the Gambino crime family and Paul was killed right outside that restaurant! Yay for being a mafia geek! It was cool though and I still want to eat there before too long.

After that I walked back up Lex and then 2nd home. Just hung out for the rest of the day. I'm pretty exhausted now. Walking lots is tiring! So I've been watching lots of TLC. Dang. These Toddler and Tiara people are mental.

I think tomorrow is going to be the Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty tour as the wind is suppose to be minimal which is a good thing for me.

Also today my mom asked if I've lost any weight from all the walking...I'm not sure because this week has been full of Easter candy. I ate the whole bag of peanut butter cups, ugh I want more!! I also have gotten Stuart addicted to Cadbury Mini Eggs, I'm an enabler like that.

Anyway I'm off to sleep. I'll post tomorrow with more pics.

G'nite!

Creeper

I totally was just a creeper but...they asked for it. The people across the street had their lights on and curtains open. You're just asking for it! I love when people do that though, it's my fave being nosy!
And I'm pretty sure the people across the street have a pool table.

If I can make it here I'll make it anywhere?

So today was interview day. I got up at 7am. Why do I keep doing this for no reason other than I just get up? Oy. Anyway, so I got up and did laundry during the morning which was fun, yeah I love to do laundry. I can't help it.

After that I got ready and went to the interview. I was a bit early so I walked around then went to the interview. I was expecting to interview with the Director of Operations but ended up interviewing with him, his assistant, and the Human Resources Director! OY! Needless to say the interview was an hour and a half long and I walked out of there completely wiped out. Lots of stress. Overall I think it went well but it was hella stressful. We shall see, they said they would contact me within 24 hours so who knows.

After that just came home and hung out. Stuart is out speed dating and I stayed home and made a ridiculously large amount of pasta and ate it all....just been watching the Louisville game. March Madness is certainly starting to set in, even I was yelling at the tv today. Damn I love college ball!!! I got to see Jalen Rose on tv the other day and I still love him! Sigh.

Tomorrow I'm trying to decide what to do. It's definately a museum day but just not sure what museum. I have access to a few so we'll see. Probably going to hit up MOMA and the Natural History Museum. The wind is suppose to only be 3mph on Wednesday so that seems like the best day for me to go to Ellis Island. I can't handle the winds/ferry, if you need more explanation let's just say there was a fateful trip back from WalMart with the managers last spring where it ended up being so bad that Miranda had to literally HOLD my head on her lap and I STILL got sick over the StarLine docks. Jealous? Yeah it was amazing.

We'll see what ends up happening. I wouldn't mind sleeping in and then going out and about and seeing what the day brings.

Did everyone watch the Oscars last night? I tried really hard to have an open mind about them but oy it was too hokey for me. I was cringing when Hugh Jackman had that big musical number with Beyonce and the High School Musical crew, yikes. It was shortly there after I had to turn it off.
Also, just for the record. I love nothing more than the feeling that you're reading a book you cannot/will not put down and for the first time in awhile I found one. So EXCITED! Creepily it's a true crime about Ted Binion who was involved with the Horseshoe casino in Vegas and his greedy trophy girlfriend murdered him with her new boyfriend. Yeah I'm totally loving it, it's ridiculous. It's called Murder in Sin City in case you wanna check it out.

Anyway I should get going...I'll keep you all posted on the job situation. I think if I do get the job my treat to myself with my tax refund is going to be a Knicks game! Or the Big East Tourney is at Madison Square Garden so might try to get tickets to that...hmmmm.

Two things.

Two things you might not know about me.

One, this is really driving me nuts, especially right this minute, I HATE hearing people chew. Stuart is eating chips or something and it seriously driving me bonkers. I realize that chewing is a necessary evil but OY it makes me grind my teeth.

Two, I was thinking about badass things I own and one thing came to mind that I cannot wait to settle somewhere so I can put it back up. That is my two John Gotti posters. My roommates bought them for me my sophomore year of college and they have to be the coolest things by far that I own. What is more menacing than John Gotti staring you down from the hallway. I love it.

Modern Art be damned.

So today I got up and ready and took my time, it's Sunday after all, what's the rush...I was pretty pumped though to go to the Guggenheim Museum and start my City Pass for the city. I got there and was immediatley disappointed, mainly with the fact that it was about 93 degrees inside the building. But I went ahead and got my City Pass and was lead on a circle of betrayal by the Guggenheim.

First off, I should've known better than to try to enjoy myself on a Sunday, strike that-RAINY Sunday afternoon. I mean really it's a perfect museum day for EVERYONE! So there were tons of people there which if you know me you know I hate people. So the two proceeding facts, it being hotter than hell and lots of people really didn't help my cause. Also the staff was nazish. Some guy nudged me into a painting and I accidently brushed the frame and the girl was all in a huff like I just licked the painting or something. I also witnessed a couple that was standing somewhat close to a painting and one of the staff members was all "Uhhh back away"...Uhhh you can suck it.

Anyway. So the art inside was also a joke I thought. I don't really love modern art but I can usually deal and I generally enjoyed myself at the Tate in London. But this was just shit. It was like a piece of white paper with a coin on it, wheee...and stuff that you think to youself "I could've made that" or "A three year old could've made that". Oy. Oh well, even the gift shop was lame which I find to be a good judge of what the museum is like. LAME.

Hopefully the rest of the city pass won't be such a sham.

After that I walked around in the rain and went into a few stores but I have made the decision that this week, outside of buying a new 30 metro card, I will not be making any purchases. I have spent a lot of money and not having a job sort of hurts. We'll see. At least I have all this week to use my City Pass so that's technically already paid for so it works.

I ended up going to the grocery store today and getting some batteries and beer, exciting right? And yes it's true, the Guggenheim drove me to drink.

Today I have nothing else planned as it is a rainy miserable mess outside. Just going to watch tv and hang out. Tomorrow I plan to get up early and do laundry then just hang out and then go to the interview at 2pm then maybe tomorrow I'll hit up a museum.

Long story short, things might be beautiful from the outside but not so much on the inside.

FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!!!

Being agnostic I don't practice any religion...errr duh I guess that would be evident by the second word of this blog. BUT I do freaking ADORE this time of year. You Catholics are alright with your lent time of year. I LOVE FISH SANDWICHES and they are starting to come out with a bang.
Here's an homage of fish sandwiches.
Hungry yet? I love it. I might have to get one post-Guggenheiming.

Overeating Saturday

Today wasn't anything too special. I didn't sleep well last night so I was pretty crabby all day. Hurrah!

I got up and ready and went to see where my interview is on Monday and then went to Lush and did not buy anything for myself, shock and horror I know. After that I wandered for a bit but got annoyed pretty easily with the people gawking and walking slow...Some advise, if you happen to find yourself walking in front of me, speed it up. I hate slow walkers. After that I came back to the Upper East Side, got some groceries and came home, watched the game...lounged out...went for a walk down Park about an hour ago and just ate some food and am planning on bed really soon.

Tomorrow it's suppose to be rainy so I think I'm going to go to the Guggenheim and get my fancy City Pass. And probably just kick it around here tomorrow, I'm not feeling great either so I want to take it easy pre-interview so I'm not a coughing/runny nose mess at the interview.

I have successfully been overeating all day today though so holla for that. I got a bag of Baked Lays Cheedar Cheese and Sour Cream chips and pretty much ate the whole big bag, and I'm knocking off the Annie's Graham Bunnies tonight.

Loves it.

So my neighbor was singing Jesus Christ Superstar on the roof...jealous?

That's for Lisa, the title but it is a true story. Someone was singing JCS on the roof at the top of their lungs. Mind you they were a good singer so eh what can you do?

Today was suppose to be a busy day but my body punked out on me early. I got up early, again? Why??? And got ready and went to Rockefeller to watch the crazies, who were disappointing. Although they did WOOOOOOO a lot and did sing along to the song even though NKOTB was INSIDE. Oy. I got to talk to Miranda though, and Miette so that was good...it's been awhile!

After that I went to Barnes and Noble to warm up and got a book and cute notecards...I was there though for easily over an hour...just trying to get warm. After that I tried to go to H&M and wasn't impressed so I went to the NBA Store and got Lisa some stuff for her birthday and got myself a Knicks hoodie. Not a bad day but at that point I was so cold and rundown that I went home.

After that I came home and just watched Casino & The Godfather II, I love you AMC. And then have just been hanging out since then.

No plans for tomorrow outside of going to see where the interview on Monday is and game time at 2pm. Then I might go back out and about and then we'll see..

Sunday I'm going to get the City Pass that gives you access to four museums, the Empire State Building and Ellis Island, not a bad deal.

Have a good night!!!

Ps one day I want to live in a fancy pants apartment building like this.
Nothing to do with NYC but I want these books.

I wish I was clever.

If I was clever then these blogs would have really ridiculously funny titles and life would be a little sweeter, but sadly it's 8:43pm and quite honestly I'm pretty much ready for bed. Oh well.

Today was nothing too majorly exciting. I got up and ready and did some job applying and then after I went out and about. I was going to go to the Strand which is this bookstore that claims to have 18 miles of books but on my way there I got a call from Logan and it was lunchtime!

Logan is this guy that has a house in Boston that I was thinking about staying at. It's south of Dorchester though and supposedly not in a great area. Anyway, I've been emailing with him for about five months about possibly living there and he happened to be in town so we met up for lunch.

I had to wander for a loooooooooooong time as he was late but no worries, it's Greenwich Village, there's always something to see there! After we met up we did dine and it was delicious!!! We went to Red Bamboo which is solely a vegetarian restaurant and it was delightful! He's a cool guy too and it was good to put a face with the name.

After lunch I went back, again, intending to go to the Strand but walked in and out, too many people and not enough patience. So I went to Barnes & Noble instead, wandered around there for a bit then came home after a trip to WalGreens which produced the most excitment of my day....EASTER CANDY!

I'm not fond of holidays but damn the do some good work with the candy, and Easter candy seems to know how to kick it especially well. I got Cadbury Mini Eggs (READ: NOT the gross creamy cousin with all that business in the middle, sick) and Reese's Mini Eggs. Mini eggs were basically the theme.

Then I came home and have been slightly comatose since then. I'm totally ready to pack it in for the night.

Other good news is I have a job interview on Monday! Hurrah! It's a housekeeping supervisor for this company that has apartments all over Manhattan. They do long term stays and I think it could be fun. I'm going to scope out the main office tomorrow so I know where I'm going on Monday. Exciting!

Also tomorrow I am going to the Today Show for the 10am hour...but don't think you'll see me there. I am going for one reason. New Kids on the Block are there BUT they are performing INSIDE and I'm just totally anxious to see all the crazies that took time off work and came from out of state to see NKOTB perform INSIDE where you CANNOT see them. Gotta love it! My plan is getting coffee and cupcakes and LAUGHING. I shall be photographing it for posterity reasons only.

Speaking of pictures, ya'll can just stop expecting new pics once I run out of the few I have left. My intentions were to take a new pic every day but that has just not happened and I'm totally uninterested in doing such a thing. You might get lucky though as I am going to invest in a City Pass which gives you admission to like four museums, the Empire State Building and either a Circle Line tour or a tour of Ellis Island. I'm going to go to Ellis Island I think. Anyway, so past that you can just expect that the pictures aren't going to be plentiful.

Alright, I'm exhausted and totally babbling.

So g'nite from NYC.

Wednesday or Thursday?

Yeah I was basically confused all day as to if it was Wednesday or Thursday. All day. I'm magical like that.

Today was rain/snow here and knowing that going into the day I got up early and got ready. Then I took a little walk, got Starbucks (their oatmeal is truly perfect) and then came back and applied for jobs all day and that was about it.

Took a nap, read, watched tv...etc.

I'm making a scarf too...with the fancy Noro yarn and I'm digging it so far so that's good.

And Louisville is on tonight so that's that pretty much. I love you college basketball.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Logan, who I almost lived with in Boston for lunch so that'll be fun then not sure. Going to do something I'm sure.

Exciting right?

Tofurky.

Tuesday---
For some reason today I got up at 7am? Wtf. I was so disappointed with myself but whatever. I got up and just woke up with some tv and then randomly at 8am some lady called and wanted to know if I could do a phone interview at 9:15. So all in all it was good I got up early. Anyway the interview was for an Overnight Supervisor at the Ritz Carlton in Westchester which would be perfect if Westchester wasn't practically in Connecticut. We'll see how it goes and go from there. The job wouldn't be bad but the human resources guy was retarded. One of the questions was "Did you make friends at your last job?" And I sort of laughed and might have said "Really?" And he just said "I just ask the questions." Errr okay. But we'll see. It's funny though, if you google the directions from where I'm at now to the hotel it literally, by public transit mode I should specify, says to take the 6 train then a real train then "Walk to Unknown Road for 32 minutes". Fantastic! I'll get right on that!
Oh well. Like I said we'll see how it goes and figure things out from there.
After that I got ready and went out for a walk around the hood and it was cold out here! So then I got the train to Union Square which is fast becoming one of my favorite parts of Manhattan. 14th Street and below, lots of cool shops and fun things. BUT my only goal for today was Whole Foods (for tofurky lunchmeat...oooohhhh my. Literally I was salivating about this all morning until I got some), a new cd, and a new magazine. I went to Virgin but Tom Jones, yes I was looking for the new Tom Jones cd, what about it, was $ 18.99...out of the budget TJ. And no magazines to speak of. So I went to Whole Foods.
It was rad, I missed that store. I got my Tofurky so all is right in the world. Plus they blew my mind in that the store is mostly downstairs so you get a cart downstairs, shop, and then there is a special escalator for the shopping cart and you hold on to the cart while you both ride upstairs, technology never ceases to amaze me.
After that I came home and ate half a package of Tofurky, you can see my day was consumed. I also am highly recommending Annie's Bunny Grahams in the honey flavor, simply delicious!
Nothing too exciting this afternoon just pretended to apply for jobs and tried to nap. Ate dinner and then got antsy so I went for a walk and tried to find a freaking magazine but NOOOOO. What the heck is up with that anyway? I mean really, it's one of the boringest months of the year and you give me nothing for magazines? Shame on you magazines. I really thought we had a good relationship but clearly we are fighting.
After that just came home, watched Lie to Me with Stuart, not worth the time my friends. Sorry Tim Roth, just another disappointment of the day.
Now I'm ready to go to bed.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to get up reasonably early and I'm pretty pumped to go to Starbucks and get a coffee? I don't know. Somethings you just can't explain. Nothing too much planned for tomorrow as it's suppose to sleet tomorrow afternoon/night here. Might try to go out and about in the morning. We'll see. At least Louisville plays tomorrow!
Anyway I'm off to bed.
And you should probably go out and buy some Tofurky and Annie's cookies. Go. Seriously.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Hey yo! It's Monday and I am terribly tired, why I am not sure but I'm so stoked to go to bed!

Nothing too crazy went on today...I had a phone screening/job interview today for a company that works with independent hotels to help them with online marketing. It's an account manager position and is salary instead of commissionable so that's good! We'll see how it goes and hopefully it'll pan out!

After that I had lunch and walked around my neighborhood for a bit then after I went down to Union Square because I found some gals that were meeting for coffee on meetup.com but I couldn't find them. I did find a wicked store, ABC Company or something like that. I bought something for Lisa and then left. Walked from there to Madison Square and was going to go to the KMart that is across the street but...I couldn't figure out how to get in. So I got the subway home and went grocery shopping which I do love to do. Just need people to get the joke out of my way.

I did make a big decision today...I am staying another month. It's going to work out better I think and it's within my budget for now so I am really excited!!! I'm glad to be here anyway but another month is going to be great! I'm staying at the same place just for the reason that I don't have to move stuff around, I know it around here and I like it.

So there ya go.

I'm hoping to find a job soon and then I can stay stay! And with that note I think tomorrow is going to be dedicated solely to some serious job hunting, not just hotels but anything to get me by for now. Whole Foods gives a 20% discount, oooohh yeah.

Oh and no new pics today even though there were opportunities, I ran out of batteries and forgot to by them so if someone could call or text me tomorrow and remind me to get batteries, that would be rad. But in the meantime...I love nataliedee.com as most of you know so enjoy a comic on me. ;)

Rock of Love bitch.

Uhhh I forgot the best part of Sunday. Rock of Love Bus! Dur!!! I got so excited when I remembered it was on. Love it!

Bret really should've eliminated Britanya. What a dumb bitch.
Ashley, see above or next to, is my girl. I love her, I don't care what anyone says she's just hilarious. Bitttch.

I don't anticipate much going on today so I'm posting early. I usually try to just give a recap before I head to bed, but you'll be going to bed by the time you read this post. I'll just keep it short and sweet

9am got up

10am got ready

10-4pm watched the Godfather and the Godfather Part II

4-6pm Watched Louisville kick DePauls ass in basketball

the end.

Now I'm going to make some noodles and go to bed.

It's just one lazy day out of the whole month, sometimes you just don't feel like getting dressed you know?

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY FROM NYC!!! Holla.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Hope you all had a fab day even if you weren't with someone. It's an overrated holiday anyway, or at least when you're single.

Today I got up at 8am? Really? But I did and I got up and ready and hung out for a bit then went to Times Square and went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic....I read all the books and was a little disappointed that Becky was American but overall, it was super cute and fun. Plus it made me feel better about spending money and BONUS I got to go to the shops Ms. Bloomwood was blowing her cash on post-movie!

After the movie, and window shopping I went to Virgin and hung out in Times Square which on a Saturday not the best of times but I had fun anyway. After that I had fun just walking around and went from Times Square to Lex to 59th and then went home.

When I got back Stuart and the guest of the weekend, Gary were getting ready for dinner so I joined and we met Gary's friends for dinner and it was good...then after we went to a bar for some drinks. It was delicious to have a cosmo, plus I got one from the bartender, just because it was Valentine's Day. He was adorable so it works!

After two drinks I have retired as two is my limit unless I want to get smashed and they were going to a bar bar and I can't hack it at a bar. I can't hear in those settings so I end up just frustrated and done.

So I took the express train from 14th to 86th and here we are.

I'm off to bed shortly with no real plans for tomorrow.

If you guys have any suggestions of what to do let me know!

Friday, February 13, 2009

Oh there's a title option? Dur.

Well it's Friday! Nothing too exciting going on here in NYC. I got up and ready for another day after a night of blueberry martinis with Stuart.

Got up and met Elissa, a girl I went to high school with and we had lunch at a restaurant around the neighborhood. It was DELICIOUS and good to see her! After that we walked around and I got to see her apartment, which I love being nosy!

After that I left her and walked down to 77th Street and got the subway to 28th to try to find a yarn shop, I don't think I had the address right and that area, a little sketchy. So after that I walked from there to Madison Square Garden and went to the Border's there and then walked from there to Times Square, not my best thought on Valentine's Day weekend, LOTS of tourists. But I went to Virgin and then walked around 5th and went to the NBA Store...hahaha, Lisa was on the phone with me so I was giving her a play by play of what there was there. Nerdy.

Then I just came home and tried to apply for jobs but got really bored with that really fast.

So just been hanging out tonight.

Going to go to bed soon and spend the night with Bobby de Niro, God I love Casino!

Tomorrow I have big plans for the Hearts Day...I'm going to take myself to see Confessions of a Shopaholic and then window shop around town, then later I'm going out with Stuart and the guy that is visiting here from LA that he knows.

Okay must go and watch Casino, seriously, why aren't you watching Casino. Clearly it's more entertaining than my blog!

Just an fyi. I changed some settings so EVERYONE should be able to comment, not just if you're a registered user or not. So comment away! Hi yo!

'Ello 'Ello.

Nothing too major to report today. I got up early in hopes of going to the Today Show and stalking out Amy Sedaris, and I did make it to the Today Show but you couldn't see much and I couldn't be asked to look too hard so I just sat around Rockefeller for a bit then to Saks. And I was throughly disappointed with myself...I didn't even feel like looking/dreaming about all the expensive shit they have there. Sad day, sad day.

After that I walked to a Barnes and Noble and got a book called "New York's 100 Best Little Hotels" and then walked through the park and came back to the apartment. I spent the rest of the afternoon applying for jobs. I sent out over 50 resumes, probably closer to 70? It was a lot of work so hopefully it pays off!

Since then I haven't done much but eat like a fat kid and watch basketball. Good night overall even though my teams in both games lost. :(

Tomorrow I'm meeting a girl that I went to high school with for lunch then probably going to Little Italy to explore then back to apply for jobs then just not sure.

So I'm also thinking that one month isn't enough time to properly find a job...do you think I should stay another month??? I need advice here people! Let me know!

I'm off to lull myself into a false sense of sleep with sleep aids (I love you sleep aids).

Sorry to those that were anxiously awaiting a new blog last night...I took a sleeping pill and was out at 9:30 and totally spaced on writing. Sorry!!! Hope you weren't holding your breath!

Yesterday was FREAKING GORGEOUS outside! It was 60 degrees at least! Loved it! I spent the morning looking at jobs and then the afternoon I went to Central Park and read for a bit and talked with Cody then after that I walked across the park, clearly not the length but the width if you will, and then walked down Broadway to.....

LUSH!!!

Now if you know nothing about me, let's just say I'm a junkie for Lush bath products...or anything they sell. It was funny going in there because they were trying to sell me on things and I was just like "Yep I have that" or "I've tried that too". They only thing in the store I haven't tried were the fresh masks but it's a little much for right now, living with a stranger per say. Anyway I bought Jenna a massage bar, Strawberry Feels Forever. If you are a Lush newbie, please let me know and I can help guide you to the path of rightousness. If nothing else you all should try the Buffy the Backside Slayer...Ohhhhhhhhh my, as the worker, my new bff Charlie, said "It's like the crack of Lush". It's delightful. Anyway, I could probably blah blah blah about Lush forever so I won't.

But.

After that I just did some more walking and poked around here and there and then after I went to the grocery store and got sushi and laundry soap, came home and did laundry! Luckily the laundromat is literally across the street, okay just one door down from the Brazilian restaurant that is DIRECTLY across the street but not bad!

After that nothing too exciting just made plans to go to lunch with Elissa tomorrow and discovered that Amy Sedaris is on the lame hour of the Today Show, the one with Kathie Lee and Hoda. What a bunch of sad bitches those two are, can't stand them BUT I LOVE Amy Sedaris. She is beyond hilarious! So I'm up and getting ready and going to head over to Rockefeller for the morning and see if I can't see her and then might go wander to a craft store and then to a bookstore and see if I can't find that book I found yesterday that was Boutique Hotels in NYC. It's practically research for job applications so it's a write off right???

Anyway I should seriously get going and get ready but hope all is well in the world with everyone.

This is your picture of the day. Which I realize clearly states that it's from the 6th, not the 10th. However, I'm going to say this...I hate taking pictures. I'm not into it, it's not my thing to whip out a camera at a moments notice to take pictures of random stuff. Just not my thing. I don't do it when I'm a tourist so the chances of me actually doing it while "living" here, slim to none. Buy a guide book if you want pics.
Just another day...I started out the day by finishing up some follow up for job applications. That was complicated to get out. Anyway so I did that then I was at the point that if I had to fill out my name, education, and job history ONE more time I was probably going to kill someone.
So I decided to go out and about. I went to 14th Street and walked around there for a bit, sat at Union Square and did some phone catch up. Went to Barnes and Noble, blah blah blah. Then just walked around Greenwich Village and did not get lost thank you very much. I even managed to find a knit/yarn shop but shit was expensive yo and I am not a balla at the moment so I had to leave, less I buy a $ 32 hank of yarn. Not necessary to survive, or at least I don't think so.
After that I poked around some more which is really diminishing the actual hard labor I put into today. I walked like no other. Seriously, I was gone for five hours just walking.
Then from 14th Street again I took the subway to 42nd Street and walked around Times Square which is fun, more fun at night, and oy for the tourists. But I went to Virgin and got the Departed Special Edition (be so jealous Lisa) for $ 10!!! Woo!!! Then I decided it was time to go home when I wanted to go to the third floor and just took one esclator down and then promptly went down that escalators sister to the same floor I started on? I was tired okay? So then I walked from 42nd to 5th then over to Lex and got the subway home.
I'm shattered to say the least.
I'm getting a little anxious about this whole job thing. I really hope something pans out, I could definately live here no worries. So tomorrow is going to be more job searching but then I think after maybe a trip to.........LUSH
So excited! I love that place more than anything in the world. I just hope I don't get suckered into anything, yeah like that won't happen.
Today I also realized how funny people are. There was this dude right and he was all hi I'm a businessman and too cool for school about things but he had sunglasses on and I swear past the glasses you could actually see the FEAR in his eyes that he didn't belong. Sort of sad eh?
Also, I've been meaning to express this for some time now. If you are in a big city, or hell even a small city. Please, if you're in a group, just split up! You really don't need to walk together, I promise. You're just annoying. And if you have a stroller, at least pull over to you aren't in EVERYONES way. I mean your kid is already crying, don't you think you've done enough damage to our day already?
Just saying.
Okay Stuart just went out to buy VODKA! *ping* Good night all around!

This will be short I'm sure. Nothing exciting happened today outside of feeling like crap. I got up and ready and applied for some jobs then went to the park and talked with Lisa for a bit...went to the grocery store...came back and applied for more jobs.

Hurrah.

I'm tired as hell and this apartment is hotter than hell I swear. I have drank like my weight in water.

Oy.

Tomorrow is applying for jobs in the morning then after going go do something fun, just not sure what yet. Probably yarn shops. I'm pretty excited though since I just realized that I have a pumpkin cheesecake from Magnolia still left. Holla!

Okay I'm so off to bed.

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Holy Cow. Why am I so tired all the time? Why oh why oh why? If anyone has any ideas, let me know and trust me, I've been sleeping enough.

Anyway. No one cares about my lack of sleep. Please all pause and let's appreciate the fact I just saw Lisa on ESPN! Haha.

Anyway. Today I got up and ready and it was a bit ta do today as today is 2/8/09, which of course, to those in the know, is BASKETBALL GAME DAY 2009!!! The day kicked off with me going to see the Louisville Cardinals and Lisa, as you can imagine is at the Pistons vs. Suns game right meow. We both get to see our men. Holla!

My game was fun but it was an experience, I've never been to a basketball game by myself before and it wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be but the game was pretty slow, it was 19-22 at half time. What the hell is that Pitino? Anyway I got a beer at halftime and it was a little more exciting then! I got to see Pitino get mad and stomp and everything. Gotta love that. That's why I came to the game! Plus it was cool to go to Madison Square Gardens and I got to scope out some seats I'd like to get for a Knicks game. Yep that's right, we're going to the Knicks. I think I'm going to go when they play the Raptors. Might go to the box office tomorrow or this week to see about tickets. In case you are totally in the dark, I do like basketball. I know I know it's hard to believe but really my girly personality loves me some bball. I've been obsessed ever since the Fab Five was at U of M. I love you Jalen Rose! And since then it's been here and there but I got back into it last year and can't stop! I also have a thing for basketball coaches? I don't know. I can't explain the things I do and I don't have to explain them to you! So ha!

After the game I went to Macy's but nothing too exciting...too many people. I'm not into it. So after I walked down Broadway to Bryant Park and sat for a bit talking to Julie. After that I came home and chatted with Stuart for a bit and now we're pretty much where we are. Me, sitting, typing, etc.

Overall I can't complain! The game was tons of fun even though it was just slow. It's been 16 years in the making so it's just good to have happened!

I'm super tired now and am going to get ready for bed and lay in bed and watch Rock of Love Tour Bus. God bless you Bret Michaels. You provide me with so many endless hours of entertainment. Thanks oh so much!

I'm getting a little scared about what to do about staying here or not. I don't think that one month is going to be enough time to find a job, just not sure if I blow my savings on staying here another month is an investment or a waste. Oy, any input is GREATLY appreciated.

However, not thinking about that tonight! I got a Lousiville hoodie to wear and Bret to watch.

It's the freaking weekend and baby I'm about to shop on 5th Avenue! Holla! This morning I got up and ready and then I ate and all that jazz....talked to my mom and set off on a walk. Went from my place towards Central Park and then called Lisa and through her service changes her and I chatted while she was driving down to East Lansing to stay with her friend and then tomorrow is her big game to see Steve Nash! Ohhhh gurl! You crazy!

After talking with Lisa I set off walking again and ended up walking to 52nd street or so...went to H&M...oh how I've missed thee. So much so that I spent at least an hour there and my purse decided to give up. The strap broke but thank goodness we were already at H&M so we got to buy another. We being myself and my old purse? I don't know.

After that I was tired of people and ready for some food so I headed back to my apartment. Went to Victoria's Secret on the way and got a few more grocieres. Since then I've just had dinner, watched Juno and am thinking about bed already. So freaking tired it's unreal! I'm ready to sleep for sure though!

Tomorrow is the Louisville vs. St. John's game so I'm pretty pumped for that. That and pretzels and a drink. Oooohhh yeah. I'm pumped and I think post-game I'm going to head over to Macy's and check out things there then possibly head down to Greenwich Village to see if I can't find some knitting shops!

Anyway I'm lame and going to bed soon but whatevs.

Gotta rest up for the game?

Friday Friday Friday...What can I say about Friday but it was a lovely day of NOTHING. I know, lame but really I am so exhausted from sightseeing with Nisa today was a good catch up! I got up and ready and did some job applications...but after the one that I had to do a timed math test and a 250 question personality test I had to pack it in and get some air.

So I went for a walk while talking with Miss Lisa on the phone and went to Central Park for a bit then I went and did a little shopping...nothing major or exciting just groceries and things of that sort. But I did find a Barnes and Noble that is close and in the future I do want to buy the Diving Bell and Butterfly book and Nicole Ritchies "novel". After that I came back and was just so tired all I could manage was watching a little tv. Dang! So then I did manage to apply for some jobs and I did unpack a bit just have to throw my one suitcase up in the storage but that's about it. I was pleased.

Tonight I'm going to watch the Knicks vs. Celtics game that I wanted to go to but TOO expensive and TOO sold out. I'll try when they are playing someone lame like Oklahoma City or something.

After the game, or rather, if I make it THROUGH the game I will be going to bed after that.

Tomorrow is a big day of SHOPPING. Ohhhh yeah! I have to find a red shirt for Sunday's game but that's about it. I'm more looking forward to the game on Sunday! 2/8/09 is a BIG day of basketball! Lisa's heading to Detroit to see Steve Nash and the Pheonix Suns vs. the Pistons and I get to watch the lovely Louisville vs. St. Johns.

Have a good night and leave some love eh?

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Oooooooooookay so yesterday I didn't get a chance to post because I was WAY too tired. I am still completely exhausted so I'm taking a break from the city life today and spending tonight just doing nothing and staying in...plus I'm sure it's colder in Michigan but today is FREEZING here in the city. The wind is bitter like me.

So let's see....Yesterday was Wednesday right? So Nisa and I got up early and got the subway and went to my interview which went well I think but wasn't much to it. Just went there told them about myself and then after that they told me about the company and that was the end. We'll see. It's only part time so it's from 9am-1pm so I'd definiatly have to get a second job but who knows.

After that we went to Madison Square Gardens and I got tickets to the Louisville/St. Johns college basketball game on Sunday afternoon, yeah I'm TOTALLY excited! I cannot wait! Hurrah!

After that we went to go to the Tenement Museum in the Lower East Side. Well we were hungry so we decided it would be a good idea to try to find something to eat first then go to the museum. Good idea right? Well sounds fine in theory unless you're Nisa and Cassidy and we're a little directionally challenged as it turns out. But we ended up walking FOREVER and finally found a side street with some restaurants so we had lunch (delicious pizza...yum) and then went to go back. I swear we walked on the street parallel to the one we were originally on but when we went to cross, yeah we were in Chinatown. I swear that place...oy. Anyway so we finally found our way out and got to the museum.

The museum was cool but not much for the money, they have apartments set up in different time periods. Our tour was called "Getting By" so we saw two apartments and were told about actual families that lived there during two different times, 1800s and 1935ish. It was interesting but we only got to see those two apartments and they were the same just different due to the different times. Oh well.

So after that we got ourselves together and took the subway to Rockerfeller. We went to Radio City Music Hall as John Legend is playing in town tonight and Nisa totally wanted to go but SOLD OUT. So then we went to the Canadian consulate so Nisa could see if she could go to Canada. Turns out the Canadians peace out of work early and are done at 3pm? Lazy Canucks.

Anyway so after that we wandered around and went and just sat at Rockerfeller and watched people for a bit.

After that we went back to the apartment and were going to nap but that didn't really happen so we ended up getting ready for our dinner. We went to Union Square Cafe for dinner which was really good. It's a Danny Meyer restaurant and we both have his book due to Pat Pulte being obsessed with him so we had a good time. Had some calamari for appetizer, wine, bass, and DELICIOUS desserts. After that we went back to the apartment for the evening and just retired. It was ridiculously cold out and we were both wearing dresses, I'm pretty sure my thighs were really frostbitten.

So then it was off to bed.

Sorry this has become longer than expected but you know what? I'm going to continue.

So this morning we got up and the original plan was to go to Queens, Brooklyn, or Harlem on request of Nisa but we were hungry so we opted for food instead. We were going to go to a little diner in my neighborhood but we were lost again and just ended up going to the subway out of habit. So we went to Times Square and had lunch at Stardust where the waitstaff sings while you're eating. It was fun but it took us FOREVER to get there and we were FREEZING again.

Stupid winter.

So then after we went to Rockerfeller AGAIN for some delicious Magnolia Bakery goods. Haven't tried them yet but I got Key Lime Cheesecake and Pumpkin Cheesecake...yum. After that we headed back so Nisa could get her things then we hung out and then we headed BACK to the subway. Then we went to Penn Station and got her train ticket and all that. We had to wait an hour but it was good because we got food and got to just hang out. I put her on her train or at least I think she got on the train then I came back to the apartment and here we are.

I think tonight I'm just going to watch tv and be totally lazy. Then tomorrow I think my plan is to hang out and apply for jobs pretty much all day and go get some groceries, exciting no?

After that this weekend no big plans outside of shopping on Saturday and then the game on Sunday.

Give me a shout out and I MISS YOU GUYS ALL A LOT!!!

Send me some emails or something!

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

So today...Busy day. Nisa and I were somewhat lazy this morning and didn't get going all that early but when we did get going, we really went!

We took the subway to where my interview tomorrow is so we have an idea and aren't going in blind. After that we took the subway around town and went to Chinatown and walked around forever trying to find Little Italy...but we're retarded and couldn't find it and had to just walk around for ages in the snowy slush. But we did find it and went to a little restaurant and it was delicious! Our waiter was calling us "Bella" so naturally we tipped well. We're suckers for compliments.

After that we walked around a bit more and went to Ground Zero. There's not much to see now as they are starting to build again. We did go to the church behind Ground Zero and they have a memorial set up so that was moving to see.

After that we did some MORE walking and then came back to the apartment and had good intentions of going back out but that just didn't happen.

We just made reservations for Union Square Cafe for tomorrow night which is exciting!

I'm off to bed so I can get up early for the interview, the plan is interview, tickets for the Louisville game, Tentents Museum, Staten Island ferry depending on the weather, Canadian embassay so Nisa can see if she can go there, then walking around no doubt then back here to look fab for dinner.

Holla.

Just a quick post...I am finally in NYC...I made it. I'm excited but it's scary not having a job. At least in Alpena there wasn't much overhead!

Oh well. I had a fun last weekend in Alpena just packing and hanging out then Sunday Lisa drove me down to Saginaw and we had a last hurrah...and by that I mean Red Lobster and Vh1. Duh. We got up super early on Monday morning and I got my flight from Saginaw to Detroit fine then met Nisa in Detroit and we flew to NYC together. It's been fun i have to say but damn my legs are tired!

We got here around 1 and just hung out for an hour then got sushi then literally walked over a hundred blocks. We went from 92nd Street to 42nd Street and back. Good for us but my legs are a little like really?

After that we came back here and just hung out for the night. Watched the Knicks game...that's about it. Got to know my "landlord" Stuart a bit and he seems cool so that's always good.

Other than that...today we're going to check out where my interview is tomorrow then go to Chinatown and Little Italy.

I'm glad Nisa is here to help me explore but I know I'm going to be sad to see her go!!!

Anyway hope you all are well and I'll try to update daily like I did in London, just figured this was easier as not everyone has Myspace.
